Joanne L. Edgar, CPA
Joanne founded J. Edgar Group, PLLC in 2001. Inspired by her observation that traditional CPA firms excel at compliance but not at ensuring business success, she shaped the J. Edgar Group into a provider of CFO services on demand.
Joanne is Acting CFO for half a dozen companies across northern New England, supporting mergers and acquisitions worth more than $20 million, and negotiating corporate financing for property and operations totaling over $23 million. Her pioneering work in financing commercial solar projects enabled a major installation in Manchester’s historic Mill District, and more cutting-edge solar projects are breaking ground soon. She leads the J. Edgar Group’s tax practice, and serves as special advisor for self-directed IRA accounts.
Prior to founding the J. Edgar Group, Joanne served as a senior accountant in KPMG’s audit department, specializing in construction, service, and manufacturing. She also managed audits for Connor & Associates, P.C., and served as corporate controller of Kinderworks Corporation. Active in her local community, Joanne serves as Trustee of Trust Funds for the Town of Andover, New Hampshire. Past board appointments include the Financial Management Association of New Hampshire; Treasurer and Board President for AIDS Response Seacoast; Treasurer and Board President for Business Network International; and Treasurer for the New Hampshire Women’s Lobby.
Peter F. Pike, CPA
With over 25 years of experience in corporate accounting and finance, Peter has been providing Controller/CFO consulting services in Northern New England since 2007. His expertise in accounting & finance, including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, was honed first at KPMG Peat Marwick, then as a senior financial manager at closely-held and public companies including Gateway Computer, General Dynamics, and Slim-Fast Foods. As Northeast Regional Controller of Covanta Energy, a multibillion dollar publicly-held company, he played an instrumental role in integration following Covanta’s purchase of American Refuel.
Peter’s clients at the J. Edgar Group range from St. Joseph Community Service, a non-profit providing meals to the needy, to HealthInfoNet, an IT company that leverages health information technology to improve and transform health care quality and safety. His other clients include attorneys, retailers, movers, welders, Realtors, and a medical device manufacturer.
Whether crafting a five-year exit strategy with a client’s CEO or helping a sales team renegotiate its contracts to improve margins, Peter deploys his extensive skill set to maximize the success of the J. Edgar Group’s client base. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Maine and New Hampshire and is actively involved with local community service projects.
Bill Burke, MBA
With 20-plus years of experience as a senior financial executive, Bill has raised over $100 million of working capital for private and public companies, built multiple finance functions from the ground up, spearheaded international expansions, led mergers & acquisitions, and taken several companies public. His CFO experience spans industries including technology, logistics, transportation, telecommunications, and capital markets.
As Vice President of Finance and Administration, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer at Boston Technology, Bill helped lead the company’s growth from 22 employees and $1 million in revenue to over 450 employees and over $105 million in revenue. As an investment banker, Bill managed private placements, public offerings, mergers & acquisitions, and financial advisory engagements.
Bill has served on boards in the telecommunications, technology, and financial services sectors, and is a former adjunct faculty member at the University of New Hampshire, where he taught Entrepreneurship in the Graduate MBA program.
David Stuer, CMA, CIA, CRMA
Dave’s results-oriented leadership and risk management mindset have supported the growth and success of small, medium, and large companies in construction, defense contracting, distribution, financial services, manufacturing, “big four” professional services, software, and technology. As Director of Internal Audit at Kadant, Inc., a global manufacturer of industrial equipment, Dave worked directly with the executive leadership team, conducting a range of mission-critical audits and introducing innovative planning, reporting, and communications protocols.
As a consultant, Dave designs and implements practical, cost-effective solutions enabling clients to reach their targets and goals, helping them solve problems, manage change, drive growth, and leverage technology to lower operational costs. Dave’s board service includes the Southern New Hampshire University Alumni Board of Directors, and Career Services Committee Chair for the Executives International (FEI) Board.
John B. Edgar IV, MBA
For over half a decade, John has been supporting individuals and companies with accounting, audits, tax preparation, and other business finance services. After serving on the audit staff at Fiondella, Milone & LaSaracina LLP, John joined the J. Edgar Group, where he performs financial analysis; conducts research and spreadsheet development; prepares individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns; and provides accounting services for service-based companies in the manufacturing, construction, non-profit, restaurant, and real estate development industries.
John holds a BS in accounting, and an MBA with a focus in Entrepreneurship.
